News Updates and Information
Update - March 3, 2012 - Change in SSN Age Verification Requirements Due to the many concerns, of the requesting of PGF Players Social Security numbers, the PGF Board of Directors and SportsAgeID have revisited this concern and have made some minor changes. SportsAgeID is a very secure site. They have never been hacked into and they do not retain the SSN’s of the players, once they have been verified. We do however, understand the concern and anxiety of the parents who are being asked to provide this information. By obtaining the SSN, along with the Name and Date of Birth, we get an accurate identification of that person, telling us that she is who she says she is. SportsAgeID has come up with a solution to hopefully address everyone’s concerns. Without going into detail as to what each set of numbers, within your social security number mean, SportsAgeID feels reasonably confident that they can identify the person by only asking for the First Five Numbers of the SSN. It may not be as pinpoint accurate as it was before, but we can get close. If we see something that seems a little suspect with the player’s information, we might ask for additional information, such as a birth certificate or State issued ID or Driver’s License. Coaches and adult staff will still have to provide a Social Security Number with respect to their individual Background checks. We will not compromise the safety of our PGF players. If a Coach or Adult Staff chooses not to provide this information then he/she will not be a PGF participant. By asking for only the first five numbers of your Social Security Number, this will eliminate the possibility of your personal information being compromised. Hopefully this will ease the anxiety of some of our PGF family members.
